Leather Skirt: From Day to Night

It’s alwas tricky trying to pull off a leather skirt at a conservative office without looking out of place, but rest assured – it can be done.  We decided to kick-off our “outfit” posts with an easy, day-to-night look that’s versatile enough for every body type.

Tamed for the Day

Forever 21 Leatherette skirt and necklace, Express white blouse, Sam Edelman pumps, Michael Kors watch, BCBG ring, Aldo Melso necklace, black tights.

We toned down the petite leather skirt with a crisp, button-up blouse.  The blouse gives the skirt an air of professionalism, without removing too much of her “sex appeal.”  We also opted for a more conservative look by pairing the skirt with black, opaque tights.  The frilled detailing on the skirt and gold statement pieces provided enough for the eye, so no belt was necessary.  We finished off the look by layering two statement necklaces to give the illusion of one.  We also injected a bit of fun onto Lien’s feet by opting for a pair of pointed toe leopard print pumps.

A look for night

Forever 21 Leatherette skirt and necklace, BluBird v-neck tee, Material Girl booties, Michael Kors watch, BCBG ring, Aldo Melso necklace

This outfit is ideal for an after-work quick change.  We swapped the button-up blouse for a comfy, tucked in white v-neck t-shirt.  The v-neck will give you enough cleavage to feel sexy without showing off too much.  We advise against a top with excessive cleavage if you’ve already made the commitment to sport an itty, bitty skirt for the night.   (It’s one or the other!)  For quick-change ease, we kept all the jewelry the same.  We only swapped the pumps for a pair of  leopard print wedge platform booties.
